What does it mean when a hosting company offers CGI Based PHP?
I am looking for a website host and various PHP scripts. The hosting site I'm looking for offers to "CGI based PHP"? What does that mean for me? Does that mean I do not embed PHP in my web pages? Should I convert all PHP scripts the cgi-bin?
Well CGI Based PHP means he should be using PHP as CGI or FastCGI you do not upload your PHP scripts / files to cgi-bin directory. Like his a Microsoft Windows Based Hosting It would then IIS (Internet Information Services) CGI Based PHP with FastCGI php actually means running as a php extension. It is not business as PHP is running as CGI, but it would be faster than standalone. Yet I would suggest you the following hosting companies.
