Which hosting option works best for a novice web developer?
I had someone ask me to develop a website for his business (he wants not cheap). I tried to talk to him, because I am inexperienced at business sites. It is a learning experience for me, so I decided to do it for FREE! Here is the thing: I have developed websites, but also for organizations and churches, and personal use. Never for one company: different audience and a set of requirements and objectives. What is the best hosting / domain solution for a commercial site? My preference is to do everything with one outfit: hosting, registration, and site construction, such as GoDaddy. But that is the best way? Is there a justification for the use of individual companies handle the hosting and registration, I would be the site from scratch with FrontPage or NetObjects would make (which would require much more design / build time). What is your opinion? (apart from comments like "just hire a professional," etc.)
You are right to be involved. There is a difference in building a website for personal pleasure, etc., and a building for a company that should generate traffic and thus income. I am by no means a expert, rather than an amateur. So I went with the experts of SBI. Unfortunately it is not free, but it is very good value for money. It is $ 299 for the year, but ALL includes much more than just simple hosting and domain name. They teach you step by step how to create a website that will actually be a company that traffic is really what you need pull building. If you seriously want to do this project to your friend (I commend you, because it's much work), I suggest you tell him / her that if they want to do well, they should SBI and let you pay for the good for them. They will be happy in the long term and you will learn a tremendous amount. (Then maybe you could go to a business of your own website build:) Anyway, I myself started 6 months ago and I'm building a site called http://www.chocolate-candy-mall.com It is really well together. I love it. There is no way I could have done without the video tutorials, step by step action guide, any help from other SBIers, and especially the incredible instruments are included in the SBI package. So, I sound like a commercial. That makes it no less true.
